Driving up the hill for the first time
Where it gets steep, which gear to use, and when to let us drive down for you.

The road to Baan Mok Mai is paved all the way, but the last 6 km are steep with constant bends. If you haven't driven mountain roads before, this will help.
Going up
Shift to a low gear (L or 2) from the “steep road” sign, don't power through bends, and use headlights in fog even by day.
Coming down
Let a low gear do the braking and avoid riding the brakes. If you smell burning, pull over somewhere wide for ten minutes.
When to use our pick-up
In the rains, in a very small car, or arriving after dark — we'll meet you at the fuel station in town, where you can leave your car safely.
